Bill Could Ease Israeli Investment in U.S. Businesses

U.S. Rep. Howard Berman (D-CA) wants to pass a bill to make Israelis eligible for the E-2 investor visa in the U.S., the Israeli financial newspaper Globes reported. This would allow Israelis to invest in U.S.-based businesses for a relatively cheap price, and to live and work in America.
Representatives Lamar Smith (R-TX) Zoe Lofgren (D-CA), and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) are co-sponsoring the bill, which has bipartisan support. Senators from New York, Illinois, and Arizona have also introduced a companion bill.
“My legislation will encourage Israeli business leaders to invest in the United States and lead to the creation of jobs for American workers. Israel is one of our closest allies in the world and a significant investor in the US economy. The E-2 investor visa program will strengthen the vital US-Israel relationship, boost the American middle class, and help grow the economies of both countries,” Berman said in a statement.
