Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah movement justified stabbing attacks against Israelis this week, the research institute Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) reported on Monday.
On Sunday, Fatah uploaded a photo to its official Twitter account of the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, with a “window” cut-out in the shape of a knife, accompanied by the Arabic caption: “Israel is forcing the young Palestinians to follow this path to Jerusalem. Leave our land, you, your occupation, and your soldiers, and let us live in peace.”
PMW’s Nan Jacques Zilberdik wrote, “Throughout the current wave of terror attacks, the Palestinian Authority and Fatah leaders have claimed complete innocence, accusing Israel of provoking Palestinians to attack in ‘self-defense.’”
Taking issue with this assertion, she said that the PA and Fatah have incessantly promoted and supported the terrorist attacks in various outlets, key among them Facebook and Twitter – which reach the greatest amount of young Palestinians, who are big social-media users.
As Palestinian affairs expert and analyst at the Gatestone Institute Khaled Abu Toameh told The Algemeiner in October – about a month into the current terror wave in Israel, “All the rioters and rock-throwers we are seeing have smartphones, computers, websites and Facebook and Twitter accounts.”
