Ari Shavit
Writer
Leading columnist and writer Ari Shavit represents one of the most-respected voices on Israeli historical and current events. He currently serves on the editorial board of Ha’aretz, and is the author of the notable book “My Promised Land: The Triumph and Tragedy of Israel.”
So when Shavit expressed his grave concern throughout 2015 about the U.S.-backed Iran nuclear deal, those concerned with the future of the Jewish state took notice. His words are not for the faint-hearted.
Of the agreement, he wrote in the pages of Ha’aretz: “This means that the international community is not only enabling, but actually ensuring the establishment of a new Iranian nuclear program, which will be immeasurably more powerful and dangerous than its predecessor. In fact, the Iranians are giving up an outdated, anachronistic deployment in order to build an innovative legitimate one, with the world’s permission and authority.
“The joint comprehensive plan of action will lead to Iran becoming in 2025 a muscular nuclear tiger ready to spring forward, with an ability to produce dozens of nuclear bombs.”
