“I’m still in shock that I’ve become a statistic,” the victim of Sunday’s stabbing attack in the central Israeli city of Rosh Ha’ayin told the Hebrew news site Walla, referring to the ongoing terror wave in the country that has been mostly characterized by knifing.
The 30-year-old Kfar Saba resident made this comment after being treated at the Beilinson Medical Center for multiple “light wounds” to her arms. Her attacker, a 23-year-old female Israeli-Arab from Kafr Qassem, was arrested and taken in for questioning.
“I had just left a meeting when she approached me on the street,” the victim recounted. “Suddenly, I felt as though I had been punched in the hand. I saw that [the assailant] had a box cutter, but not the kind you see in offices; a thicker one. She looked Arab, with a head-covering, but not at all suspicious. I had my own head buried in my phone, and she didn’t call out anything that would give her away, like ‘allahu akbar.’”
But then, the victim added, “She waved her hand in front of me and tried to stab me. I threw my purse at her and screamed… She kept stabbing me until people came and tried to fight her off. She tried to stab them too. I fell on the ground and beat her back a few times.”
She continued: “People arrived who bandaged my wounds. She had cut my muscle, and there was a ton of blood. But it could have been a lot worse.”
“I never imagined that such a thing would happen in Rosh Ha’ayin,” she said.
The attack occurred around 1 pm. According to the Jerusalem Post, police said a security guard working in an office building in the area arrived on the scene when he heard women shouting. The guard said he pulled his gun and, together with two civilians, subdued the assailant and wrested the knife from her hand. Police said they found an additional knife on her body.
