The wife of a radical British Islamic cleric is under investigation for possible connections to terror and antisemitism, The Telegraph reported on Wednesday.

According to the report, 42-year-old Rubana Akhtar, the wife of Anjem Choudary — who was recently found guilty of supporting the Islamic State group — is suspected of running an extremist cell in London made up of female members.

The self-declared leader of the women’s branch of Choudary’s now-banned Al-Mouhajiroun Movement (ALM), Akhtar operated under the name Umm Luqman and would deliver lectures “touching on many of her husband’s favorite topics,” The Telegraph reported.

According to Scotland Yard, part of the investigation will focus on antisemitic remarks Akhtar made that were broadcast during a Channel 4 documentary last November. News of the investigation was kept under wraps while Choudary faced prosecution, out of fear her activities would result in bias during her husband’s trial.

In one tirade, Akhtar declared, “The audacity and the arrogance of these Jews and they encourage killing of Muslim children and Muslim women. The amount of Muslim children — I won’t even use the word Palestinian — Muslim children that are in custody of those filthy Jews.”

A spokesman for Scotland Yard told the newspaper, “We are aware of the documentary. The Met’s counter-terrorism command executed search warrants at addresses in east London in relation to these inquiries. There have been no arrests. Inquiries are ongoing.”

Akhtar, the report said, adheres to an extreme version of Islam, wearing a burka and full-faced veil. While appearing to stay in the background of her husband’s activities, evidence has emerged showing otherwise.

According to the report, during Choudary’s trial, “It emerged that rather than being a submissive wife, she was actively involved in promoting his causes and had even run up large phone bills trying to recruit followers.”

Days after the founding of ISIS in June 2014, Akhtar urged her husband to declare his support for the terror organization.

“It’s haram (forbidden) to spend more than three nights without giving bayah (allegiance) once it has been announced,” she wrote to him in a message. Choudary responded, “Allahu Akbar (God is great) I’m so happy,” with a smiley face symbol.
