With gambits such as the diplomatic summit held in Paris two days ago, the international community “distances peace instead of bringing it closer,” a former director-general of Israel’s Ministry of International Affairs and Strategy said on Tuesday.
In a video published by the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs (JCPA) think thank, IDF Brig. Gen. (res.) Yosef Kuperwasser — a senior project manager at the JCPA — stated that the “worst thing” about the Paris confab was that it promoted the message that Israel, not the Palestinians, stands in the way of peace.
“The Palestinians are the main obstacle for reaching two states for two peoples, because they refuse to accept there is a Jewish people and that the Jewish people has a right [to] a state of its own,” Kuperwasser pointed out. “This is the core problem of the peace process; this is why we don’t have peace.”
On Sunday, as reported by The Algemeiner, a spokesman for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the Paris conference was “like having marriage counseling with neither the husband nor the wife present.”
