Israeli actress and model Gal Gadot revealed in a newly published interview that she misses the straightforwardness and boldness prevalent among citizens of her home country now that she is living in Los Angeles.

“When I first came to Los Angeles, I couldn’t read people. I always felt there was a subtext,” Gadot, the 32-year-old ‘Wonder Woman’ star, said in a cover story feature for Marie Claire’s June issue.

“In Israel, people have chutzpah,” Gadot explained. “People take issue with it, but I’d rather have that than play games. Here, everyone’s like, ‘We love you; you’re so wonderful.’ I prefer to know the truth, not waste time.”

Gadot — the 2004 Miss Israel — also told the magazine about her upbringing and years living in Israel. Her mother raised her and her sister to be “confident women with aspirations,” Gadot said, noting that she always felt “capable.” She added, “I’m not saying that I’m stronger than most men… but we all have the same brains and we can achieve the same things.”

The married mother-of-two also noted that she landed her first job at the age of 12, babysitting for her neighbors, and when she was 15 she worked at Burger King.

Gadot unveiled the final ‘Wonder Woman’ trailer on Sunday night at the MTV Movie & TV Awards. The action film will be out in theaters June 2, 2017. Watch the clip below:
