In an interview which aired on Erin Burnett OutFront on CNN, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu openly discussed his country’s current stance on the Iranian nuclear program, ahead of negotiations between P5+1 member states and Iran, next month in Baghdad.
France, Germany, China, Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States make up the p5+1 nations.
“So far they haven’t rolled back the Iranian program, or even stopped it by one iota,” Netanyahu said, referring to sanctions imposed on the Islamic Republic by the United States and the European Union in an attempt to curb Iran’s nuclear program.
“I can tell you the centrifuges are spinning. They were spinning before the talks began recently with Iran. They were spinning during the talks. They were spinning as we speak,” the Israeli PM told Burnett.
The Israeli leader said the first round of negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program, held in Istanbul earlier this month, was a “gift” to Iran, just days after the meeting in Turkey.
In addition to telling Burnett that “we know” what Iran is trying to do with its nuclear program, Netanyahu said that comparisons of current intelligence assessments on Iran’s nuclear ambitions, and the intelligence that preceded the 2003 invasion of Iraq, are lacking in merit.
“This is not the case, the questions, people had about Saddam Hussein.”
