A 21-year-old Syrian-born Palestinian man was arrested in Berlin for allegedly planning a chemical weapons attack on Israel, German media reported.
According to Israel’s Channel Two, the man is being held on suspicion of planning the terror attack as well as trying to recruit others to take part.
The suspect was reportedly arrested last month on one of the main streets in Berlin after he was involved in an altercation at a local cafe. He resisted arrest and was ultimately subdued by police who surrounded him with drawn weapons.
Israel’s Channel Ten reports that in the course of their investigation, police discovered his plans for the terror attack. It appears that there is a connection between the suspect and the Islamist terror group ISIS.
