JNS.org – UK Labour Party leader and antisemite Jeremy Corbyn could be slapped with US sanctions due to his material support for the US-designated terrorist group Hamas, according to a British legal report.
Were Corbyn to be sanctioned by the United States, any financial assets of his in the United States would likely be frozen, along with other penalties, according to a legal brief by W Legal commissioned by Labour members who are reportedly concerned about Corbyn’s ties to Hamas and other radical organizations.
“In circumstances where grounds exist upon which Jeremy Corbyn may become subject to US sanctions, many people may conclude that the Labour Party lacks credibility,” Nigel Kushner, chief executive of W Legal, said in comments accompanying the firm’s review, according to The Washington Free Beacon, which first reported on Wednesday about the review. “I anticipate a push in certain quarters on both sides of the pond for Jeremy Corbyn to be made the subject of US sanctions. There is a view that enough is enough.”
The State Department would not comment to the Free Beacon about the review or the chances of sanctions.
Meanwhile, former Israeli Ambassador to the United States Michael Oren on Wednesday called for Israel to extend “the warmest invitation” to British Jews if Corbyn becomes the next prime minister of the United Kingdom.
A poll conducted last month showed that 40 percent of British Jews would consider leaving Great Britain if he were to be elected.
