JNS.org – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appeared to imply that Israel was behind a weekend airstrike that targeted an Iranian-linked munitions factory in central Syria.

“We are continuing to operate on all fronts, including the northern one,” said Netanyahu at a ceremony in Jerusalem for relatives of fallen Israeli soldiers.

“We are not prepared to allow someone to entrench themselves in a way that endangers Israel,” he said. “Strength is the guarantee of our existence, and is the crucial and basic condition for achieving peace with our neighbors.”

Numerous Iranian “elements” and pro-Iranian forces were killed in the attack with 17 people injured, according to the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

The Israel Defense Forces has yet to comment.
