IDF Hits Syrian Anti-Aircraft Battery After Fighter Jet Comes Under Fire Over Northern Israel

The Israeli military hit an anti-aircraft battery in Syria’s Quneitra region on Monday after an IAF fighter jet was fired on from the position earlier in the day.
The plane was targeted while on a routine mission inside northern Israeli airspace, the IDF said. It later returned safely to base and no one was injured in the incident.
According to the Syrian state news agency SANA, one soldier was killed and another was wounded in the retaliatory IDF strike.
Commenting on Monday’s events, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated, “Our policy is clear — we are not prepared to tolerate any aggression against us, and we will respond against it powerfully and decisively.”
In February 2018, an IAF F-16 was shot down over northern Israel by a Syrian anti-aircraft missile.
In recent years, the Israeli military has acted numerous times in Syria to thwart Iran’s ambitions there — including the transfer of advanced weaponry to Hezbollah, the Tehran regime’s Lebanon-based Shi’a proxy.
