Former Middle East envoy Dennis Ross said May 29 that Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah has warned the U.S. that if Iran obtains nuclear weapons, Saudi Arabia will also try to acquire them.
“If they get nuclear weapons, we will get nuclear weapons,” Ross recalled King Abdullah telling him in 2009.
According to Haaretz, Prince Turki al-Faisal, a former Saudi intelligence chief and ambassador to Washington, had warned senior NATO military officials that an Iranian nuclear bomb “would compel Saudi Arabia…to pursue policies which could lead to untold and possibly dramatic consequences.”
