An attack on the director of a Holocaust memorial in Poland has been met with calls for quick action on anti-Semitism in the country. Bricks with swastikas on them, as well as firecrackers, were thrown through the window of the home of Tomasz Pietrasiewicz in Lublin. He directs a Jewish-themed theater in the city, which before the Holocaust was home to a large Jewish population. Pietrasiewicz said he thought he had been attacked by right-wing extremists. Abraham Foxman, the national director of the Anti-Defamation League, said the crime was “intended to terrorize the Jewish community.” He added that in the past, anti-Semites had attacked the theater with threatening letters and by daubing an image of a Star of David hanging from a gallows on the door of the building.
