The Pope has vowed to fight anti-Semitism and the isolation of Israel, praising the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) for its “important” work. Speaking to an audience of ADL leaders at the Vatican, Benedict XVI said he would continue to speak out against Jew-hatred. He met national chairman Robert G. Sugarman and national director Abraham H. Foxman, as well as Rabbi Eric Greenberg, the Director of Interfaith Affairs. The Pope thanked them for what they did and urged them to continue it. The delegation asked if he would continue to denounce anti-Semites, to which he responded: “I will, you know I will,” the European Jewish Press agency reported. When Foxman asked him not to let the world isolate the Jewish state, he replied: “I will be there.” Sugarman presented the Pope with a charity box.
