National Geographic included the Israel National Trail in their list of the world’s 20 most “epic trails.” The selected paths are “the holy grails of trails across the world” and the Israel Trail “delves into the grand scale of biblical landscapes as well as the everyday lives of modern Israelis,” said the list’s author, Doug Schnitzspahn, according to the Jerusalem Post.
Israel’s Society for the Protection of Nature established the Israel National Trail in 1995.
It is nearly 600 miles in length, stemming from Kibbutz Dan in the north to the SPNI’s Eilat Field School in the south. Schnitzspahn says it is best to walk the trail between February and May.
