The Israeli Air Force hit a car in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday night, killing 2 Palestinians that were reportedly part of a terrorist group planning to execute an attack within the coming days.
Another man was severely wounded in the incident on Wednesday, just east of Rafah, according to Palestinian media reports.
Egypt, which like Israel, shares a border with the Hamas controlled Gaza Strip, raised its threat level on Wednesday after receiving information about possible attacks by Islamic terrorists within the next 48 hours.
An IDF release provided more information on the targets and why the IAF took action against them: “One of the operatives, Anis Abu Mahmoud el-Anin, born in 1979 in Rafah, was part of the “Defenders of al-Aqsa,” a terrorist group sponsored by Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Anis was in the final stages of preparing to carry out a terror attack against Israeli civilians. In the past number of years, Anis, as part of the activity of “Defenders of al-Aqsa” was involved in a number of attempted terror attacks that included smuggling explosive devices into Israel via the Israel-Egypt border, in addition to directing certain terror activity in Judea and Samaria.”
