Three Israelis were killed and an 8 month old baby was critically injured in a Gaza rocket attack on the Israeli city of Kiryat Malachi. The rocket struck the top floor of a four story residential building. Ynet reports that a 4-year-old boy was moderately hurt as well “and was taken to the Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon for treatment. A 1-year-old girl and another infant sustained light injuries and were taken to the Kaplan Medical Center. The girl’s father was lightly hurt as well. Ten people suffered panic attacks.”
Throughout the night Gaza rocket fire was aimed at a number of civilian areas in southern Israel’s cities and towns. Ynet reports:
“A rocket barrage targeted Ashdod, with one projectile hitting a home but failing to cause casualties. A school in Ofakim was also hit. Salvos targeted Beersheba, Ashkelon and Gan Yavne as well. Some of the rockets were intercepted by the Iron Dome missile defense system.”
Additionally rockets struck Beersheba, and the Eshkol Regional Council, as Israel targeted terror sites in Gaza overnight with the launch of operation Pillar of Defense by the IDF.
According to the IDF spokesperson Twitter account, 135 rockets have been fired from Gaza into Israel in the last 11 hours alone.
