Dr. Misha Galperin is President and CEO of Jewish Agency International Development. In this role, he is responsible for the Jewish Agency for Israel's External Affairs, Financial Resource Development, Marketing and Communications and many of its strategic initiatives worldwide.
He is the co-author of The Case for Jewish Peoplehood: Can We Be One? and of Reimagining Leadership in Jewish Organizations: Ten Practical Lessons to Help You Implement Change and Achieve Your Goals, both published by Jewish Lights Publishing. He has written and spoken internationally on issues of peoplehood, Jewish identity and community; and was chosen as one of the "Top Five" in the 2010 Forward List of the 50 most influential Jewish leaders in North America.
Before assuming this position, Dr. Galperin was CEO of the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington for 9 years and prior to that served as COO of UJA-Federation of New York.
Dr. Galperin was born in Odessa, Ukraine and immigrated to the United States as a teenager. He has a Ph.D. in clinical psychology; is a graduate of the Wexner Heritage Program; and has worked as an interpreter, teacher, psychotherapist and executive of several social services, community services and educational institutions.
Dr. Galperin lives with his family in Brooklyn, New York.
