Jewish Population on Campus
With around 3,500 Jewish undergrads, Arizona State University offers ample opportunities to fully engage in Jewish life. ASU offers official study abroad programs at several universities in Israel, and large delegations go on the ASU Birthright trip each year. The Hillel on campus is quite active, administering a special scholarship program that funds student projects which combine “elements of Judaism and the arts,” and Chabad runs a full range of activities from Friday night dinners to Jewish education classes and even a Basketball Jewish Heritage Night. There are student-led Reform and Conservative Shabbat services every Friday night, with the Chabad offering Orthodox services for all students. There are also several kosher dining options, from food at Hillel and local Phoenix establishments to the on-campus eatery Chick-In supervised by Chabad. (Photo credit: Wikipedia.)
