While Pennsylvania State University has an SJP chapter, it’s not proven very effective. Meanwhile, the Jewish community at the school is thriving. Over a hundred students go on the Penn State Birthright trip each year, while others study abroad and participate in other opportunities in Israel. In addition, Hillel — jointly with Aish — hosts a trip to Poland for students. The Gloria Kaufman Smith Klein Scholarship awards financial assistance to Jewish students who are active in the school’s Jewish community. There is even a dedicated Jewish Programming Allocation Committee, which grants students funding for original initiatives. (Photo credit: Wikipedia.)
