Wesleyan's student assembly voted in favor of a BDS motion a few years ago, and the Wes Divest coalition leading the anti-Israel initiative continues its attempts to push the university to boycott the Jewish state. The school's chapters of Students for Justice in Palestine and Jewish Voice for Peace are highly active, staging events and programs throughout the year that amplify virulently anti-Israel and antisemitic voices. A main focus of SJP is support for "#FreeRasmea," the effort to get convicted Palestinian terrorist Rasmea Odea absolved of charges in the US for “unlawful procurement of naturalization," after she lied about being a convicted murderer in Israel.
