Viorica Dăncilă, the prime minister of Romania, said her country would move its Israel embassy to Jerusalem in a surprise announcement at this year’s opening session of AIPAC’s policy conference. She called President Donald Trump’s decision to move the US Embassy to Jerusalem an “admirable and courageous step [that] impressed me, my government, and the Romanian people.” She added, “This gesture also launched an international reflection process.” But hours later, the statement was strongly contradicted by the country’s president, Klaus Iohannis, who has a final say on foreign policy issues.
