Pamela S. Nadell holds the Patrick Clendenen Chair in Women's and Gender History and is Director of the Jewish Studies Program at the American University in Washington, DC. Nadell’s latest book America's Jewish Women: A History from Colonial Times to Today was published to great acclaim in 2019, with the New York Times praising its “vivid picture of a golden land that often defaulted on its promises.” A past president of the Association for Jewish Studies, Nadell won 2019’s National Jewish Book Award. “Just think of the great numbers of Jewish women who have entered national, state, and local politics; or the myriads who are leaving their marks in the worlds of business, the arts, education, the media, and activism,” she observed in an interview earlier this year.
