Kyriakos Mitsotakis

Prime Minister

The Prime Minister of Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis won a historic second term in office with the victory of his New Democracy Party in the general election of 2023. A strong ally of Israel, Mitsotakis has been a key architect of the closer economic, energy, and security ties between Greece, Cyprus, and their Jewish neighbor across the Mediterranean. He has also been a stalwart backer of Israel's right to defend itself from attack from terrorists in Gaza, Lebanon, and elsewhere in the region. Following the invasion of Israel by Hamas terrorists in October, Mitsotakis declared: "We stand by the people of Israel and fully support its right to self-defense."
