Throughout the year, Marco Rubio distinguished himself as one of the most active and substantive pro-Israel voices in American government. He led efforts to block US funding to UN bodies accused of collusion with Hamas, pressed the administration to sanction Iranian oil exports financing Hezbollah, and publicly challenged intelligence agencies that downplayed Iran's role in regional escalation. Rubio also convened multiple briefings with Jewish communal and security leaders, framing the post–Oct. 7 environment as a generational test for the West.
