Sacha Baron Cohen’s latest character to hit the widescreen is a fanatic antisemitic Arab dictator named General Admiral Aladeen loosely based on former Libyan strongman Muammar Gaddafi.
The film, called ‘The Dictator’ is set to be released in the United States next week, and the General has been conducting a number of promotional media appearances, including one recently with famed interviewer Larry King.
During the session King asks, “Have you ever failed at anything?” Aladeen answers, “Well if you look up Israel on Wikipedia everything is still in the present tense, so that’s clearly something that I need to work on.”
King then professes his Jewishness, Aladeen confirms twice, promptly spits and says, “It’s fine, no problem.” The veteran TV star then challenges Aladeen asking, “because I am Jewish you would take offense, you would spit?” Aladeen responds, “nooo, nothing to do with that, I just spat on the floor, I don’t like the floor.”
