The Zionist Organization of America this week criticized the Obama administration for its readiness to follow through on a foreign aid package to Egypt that will supply the country with 16 F-16 fighter jets and 200 Abrams tanks before the end of the year. The organization said it was specifically concerned as to who Egypt intended to use the weapons against.

The deal, signed while Hosni Mubarak was still president of Egypt, has come under increased scrutiny because of the recent surfacing of videos in which Egypt’s current president Mohamed Morsi makes vicious anti-Semitic comments, stating that Jews are the descendants of “apes and pigs” and that “we must not forget to nurse our children and grandchildren on hatred towards those Zionists and Jews, and all those who support them,” among other controversial remarks.

Morton Klein, President of the ZOA, spoke to the Algemeiner, and expressed his concerns about the deal.

“We now have videos of Morsi openly promoting hatred against Jews and Israel, so these powerful weapons in the hands of a vicious Israel-hater and Jew-hater is very frightening, because we ask ourselves, ‘who is he going to use these weapons against, is it going to be Iran or Syria? No, it’s going to be Israel.'”

Klein added, “He and his people have said even recently that they don’t know if they’re going to keep this agreement between Egypt and Israel, the so-called peace agreement.”

Klein also voiced his concern that the Jewish community was mostly silent on the issue. “To have these weapons in the hands of someone who has this unbridled hatred towards Jews and Israel is something that every Jew should be screaming out against.”

“I mean we fought (against) Saudi Arabia getting the AWACS why are we not fighting an even more vicious anti-Semite Morsi getting F-16 fighter jets and Abrams tanks,” Klein added.

  • The Obama administration believes Egypt needs 16 fighter jets and 200 tanks to defend itself from the ghost of Muammar Khaddaffi.

  • On financial grounds alone this is insanity of the highest order. Borrow money from China so you can donate advanced weapons to a 3rd world country that lacks basic facilities! Then consider the other factors mentioned above by other commentators. This adds up to a no brainer.

Dream on. How can Obama assist in Israel’s obliteration if he does not arm its enemies? Soon, once Iran has nuclear capabilities, it will be up to Obama and Hagel to assist with their delivery systems. Obama looks for a world which will give a leg up to everyone, except, of course, as usual, the Jews. Obama needs to make his pastor proud, and he does.

  • Very true. The 10 million Christians in Egypt are the ones at risk. Just say no!!!

  • It’s a shame that Jews who supported Obama were so gullible. Too late now, guys, we’re now stuck with him for four years and stuck with the result of his policies for generations.

  • Obama promised to fundamentally change America

Why the surprise (with the name Of Barack Hussein Obama?)

This shipment of advanced jet fighters and tanks should be nixed without any question. The Muslim Brotherhood charter refers to Americans as infidels who will fail in their endeavors as a people. It calls for the destruction and dismantling of the State of Israel and death to all Jews. The list of radical Islamic rules, laws, commandments, customs, and dogmas aims to bring about an Islamic civilization globally. In my view, only a crackpot would supply Egypt with 16 F-16 fighter jets and 200 Abrams tanks as a foreign-aid package this year. Sometimes it is necessary not to mince words: this is such a time! I speak here as a Jew, an Israeli citizen and a United States citizen.

    • Barak Obama is a muslim and a frighteningly disturbed and flawed personality. I trust this does not come as a surprise to you, my Israeli friends. I’m Irish and understand a thing or two about oppression and occupation. I lived in the US for 12 years and have an abiding affection for the country and its people. The vast majority of Irishmen have the same regard for America. I have the same feelings for Israel. I would take up arms in defence of both countries.
It is critically important that Israeli’s begin to understand Obama. He is not just another American President. He is uniquely unqualified for the job and even his legitimacy to hold the office is suspect. He reminds me a little of the Italian WW2 dictator Benito Mussolini and be assured Obama has aspirations to become dictator of the USA. He does not lack intelligence; however what constitutes his warped DNA manifests itself in unwarranted arrogance, narcissism and self-delusion.
Obama despises the British because they colonised Kenya, the homeland of his father and perhaps even himself. He returned a bust of Winston Churchill, presented to Bush in 2001 (I think). As an Irishman I understand the origin of that sentiment, even though I greatly admire Churchill’s intellect. Obama hates Jews and Israel (he was born a muslim, after all) and he will do anything he can to take Israel down. Be assured of this. He is a pathological liar and practised in Taqiyya.
Dinesh D’Souza produced a marvelous movie titled 2016: Obamas America. I’ve viewed it 3 times already (even though I was aware of everything presented in it). Every Israeli should watch it. It will give you the most logical understanding of the danger this man poses to America, Israel and indeed the entire western world. I urge you to watch it and make sure every Israeli sees it. F 16 planes to Egypt is crazy. Why would we want a fundamentalist Islamic government to have such weapons? Cancel all aid to Egypt except direct humanitarian aid administered by Americans.

At this stage of Islamic behavior the best thing the West can do is to disconnect and let them “stew in their own juices”.

  • Alex Zapolanski

Every Jew that supported Obama has become a ” de facto ” accesory/accomplice of his behaviour and is responsible for the consequences of Obama’s actions.
    No excuses.

First and foremost all Arab and Persian tyrannies have a ‘Republican Guard’ made up of the most politically loyal and therefore best equipped and trained forces. But all of these Republican Guards only have their guns trained inward at their own people not outward. They serve the singular purpose of maintaining the regime. They are designed to keep the miserables, the malcontents, the dissidents, the revolutionaries and the ordinary food rioters in check. They can’t afford to risk their resources going up against anyone who could match them in men and materiel.

    • That does not seem to stop Hammas and the countries who are supporting them

Egypt is allowing terrorists on the sinai dessert.Their leader is heard to pronounce Anti Israel and anti semetic remarks and you do not have a problem with America sending them planes?

Unpacking the Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict and Its Ripple Effect on Israel’s Region

JNS.org – Aside from Israel itself, those with a vested interest in the Jewish state are accustomed to tracking developments related to Middle East players such as Iran, Syria, Jordan and Egypt. But much global attention has recently focused on the Caucasus region at the Europe-Asia border, specifically on the suddenly intensified violence between Azerbaijan and Armenia in the mountainous Nagorno-Karabakh area of western Azerbaijan. The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, while not taking place in Israel’s immediate neighborhood, does have what one scholar called […]

JNS.org – On Friday, April 22, 196 nations across the world mark Earth Day, the annual day dedicated to environmental protection that was enacted in 1970. Not to be forgotten on this day is Israel, which is known as the “start-up nation” for its disproportionate amount of technological innovation, including in the area of protecting the environment. For Earth Day 2016, JNS.org presents a sampling of the Jewish state’s internal achievements and global contributions in the environmental realm. Water conservation Israeli […]

New Documentary Explores Holocaust Humor, Role That Laughter Played in Death Camps

Holocaust humor and the role that laughter played in the lives of Jews during World War II are the focus of a documentary that made its world premiere on Monday at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City. In The Last Laugh, first- and second-generation survivors, as well as famous Jewish and non-Jewish comedians, discuss their thoughts on when joking about the death camps is appropriate or taboo. “Nazi humor, that’s OK. Holocaust humor, no,” Jewish comedic giant, actor and filmmaker Mel Brooks says in the film. “Anything I […]

Tragedy Culminates in ‘Celebration,’ Says Israeli Author Who Lost Son to Terror

JNS.org – Sherri Mandell’s life was devastated on May 8, 2001, when her 13-year-old son Koby was murdered by terrorists on the outskirts of the Israeli Jewish community of Tekoa. Yet Mandell not only shares the story of her loss, but also celebrates the lessons she has learned from tragedy. Indeed, “celebrate” is this Israeli-American author’s word choice. Her second book, The Road to Resilience: From Chaos to Celebration (Toby Press), came out earlier this year. The lesson: in every celebration, there is […]

For Alan Gross, Cuban Prison Didn’t Harden His Heart or Weaken His Ambition

JNS.org – Alan Gross used to be nothing more to me than a tragic headline. When I started my position at this news service in July 2011, Gross had been imprisoned in Cuba since December 2009 for what that country called “crimes against the state.” Gross, a subcontractor for the United States Agency for International Development, went to Cuba to help the Jewish community there access the Internet. After his arrest, he received a trial he describes as a “B movie,” […]

New Movie Shows How Global Economic Instability Grew From Very Local Greed

JNS.org – When I saw the recent Academy Award-winning film “The Big Short,” I was struck by the sheer genius of the financiers who devised the schemes and packaged the loans for resale, but it left me with unanswered questions about how the properties these loans represented were moved. “The Big Short” was largely about paper transactions, big money, and wealthy investors, and it mildly touched on the way the actual end-users — the home buyers and brokers — played into this […]

    Psychiatry and the Spirit

Why do we think so negatively about psychiatrists that we still insult them by calling them shrinks? Some medics might be quacks, but we don’t generally refer to them as witches! Shrinks; The Untold Story of Psychiatry, by Dr. Jeffrey Lieberman, is a sobering account of how psychiatry has swung from a marginal, unscientific mixture of weird theories into one of the most common and pervasive forms of treatment of what are commonly called “disorders of the mind.” Is it […]

At Forbes Summit in Israel, Entrepreneurship Is a ‘Common Language’

JNS.org – Nine months ago, Seth Cohen, director of network initiatives for the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation, and Randall Lane, editor of Forbes Magazine, were schmoozing about the “vibrancy of Tel Aviv and soul of Jerusalem,” as Lane put it. They dreamed about how they could bring young and innovative millennials to the so-called “start-up nation.” From April 3-7, Forbes turned that dream into a reality. Israel played host to the first-ever Forbes Under 30 EMEA (Europe, the Middle East, and Africa) […]
