The Blaze – Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) on Sunday conceded that President Barack Obama’s pick for secretary of defense will likely be confirmed, despite a last-ditch effort by Republicans to block him.

McCain was one of former Sen. Chuck Hagel’s sharpest questioners during his confirmation hearing last month and has gone on record opposing him for the Pentagon’s top job.

I have written both of my senators, Senator Durbin and Senator Kirk; Senator Levin twice; and Senator McCain twice, imploring them to use common sense, decency, pragmatism, insight, and prudence when deliberating about the Hagel nomination. Why would the majority of senators place a man so unprepared and contrary to the security needs of this country into a position of immense power? Hagel is not a “yes” man; neither is Obama. If Hagel becomes the new secretary of defense with this president who definitely does not have any foreign policy, the United States, Israel, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Canada, and Africa will be in for a very tumultuous four years with the threat of internecine warfare clearly on the horizon both in the West with North Korea and the East with Iran. Are the senators not cognizant of the Iranian Ayatollah Khamenei’s latest proclamation: The US can’t stop Iran from building nuclear weapons? G-d help us all!

It is self loathing Jews like Chuck Schumer whom we can thank if Hagel gets in. Senator Lindsay Graham said during his questioning of Hagel, that Hagel’s refusal to sign a support letter for Israel in October in response to the PA announcement that it would unilaterally apply to the UN for recognition, along with only two other Senators “sent chills down his spine”. Graham is not Jewish and Schumer is, so why the difference? Simple, Schumer is spineless.
