The mother of a little girl fighting for her life in an Israeli hospital has responded to an op-ed in the Israeli paper Ha’aretz that encouraged the continued stone-throwing by Palestinian Arabs as a form of resistance.

Adva Biton, whose  three-year-old daughter Adele was critically injured after the car her and her mother and two siblings were riding in was struck by a stone wrote, “Amira, come to the intensive care unit, and see my Adele, a three-year-old girl, attached to tubes.” Biton was addressing Ha’aretz correspondent Amira Hass, who published an article Wednesday in which she urged Palestinian Arab authorities to teach forms of resistance in schools and condoned stone-throwing, saying: “Throwing stones is the birthright and duty of anyone subject to foreign rule.”

“A rock kills. A rock is a deadly weapon in every way,” Biton writes.

“I believe in the value of life,” she continues, adding,”the paramedic who first reached our car, who saw us crushed under the truck, is a young Arab man. He came and started his sacred work. He didn’t utter lofty, hollow words like yours, words that kill. He simply saved lives.”

“I agree with you, Amira, that everyone is entitled to his or her freedom. Arab and Jew. I agree with you that we must all strive for liberty, but there is no one in the world who will achieve freedom and liberty by deadly weapons.”

On Wednesday Yesha (West Bank) Council head Avi Ro’eh and Chairman Ron Shachner sent a letter to Jerusalem Police accusing Ha’aretz of incitement to violence.

  • Why is this lady living with children in a settlement out of Israel, right in the middle of the Palestinian territory?

  • Jew versus Jew? SHAME!! SHAME!! Are there not enough Jew-haters already?

Self defense against one’s enemies is one thing. Is this our idea of “civilization”?

    • jerry hersch

Richard ..There is an old saying when a Jewish cop arrests a Jewish prostitute and brings her before a Jewish Judge and the lawyers on both sides are Jewish and they argue vehemently causing Jewish supporters on both sides to fight..then we will have a nation both Jewish and with freedom.

  • Maybe the Jewish residents of Judea and Samaria should take a cue from amira hass and protest their foreign occupation by pretend palestinian arabs. Go to the hass household and throw stones at the whole family. The traitor hass may then get the message.

I’d rather she gets the message from this poor mother and apologises, offering money to pay the little girl’s medical bills, and for the family’s pain and suffering. But if not, try stones. After all, it’s what haaretz recommends.

The western left has been sick for years, but hass just showed how bad its sickness really is.

  • Sherri Munnerlyn

I do not understand a mother living as an illegal settler in violation of intl law like Avda Biton is doing and causing injury like this to her child. WHAT IS WRONG WITH this woman, to cause this injury to her own child?

    • Sherry, you are so impossibly stupid and one of those who have elevated terrorists and thugs to a national movement with foreign aid stolen in the greatest welfare scam in history. May the same fate that befell this girl happen to you one night.

  • As a dumb Gentile, even I can see that Haaretz is a disgusting betrayal of the Jewish people.

  • Lynn K. Circle

Rocks have been a deadly weapon since Cain and Abel. I believe anyone who is the target of a rock thrower is fully justified in shooting the thrower.

    Enough said.

  • Close down this media outlet immediately.
    Period.
Irresponsible public conduct warrants such drastic action.
Round – up the journalist and put her in the firing line of Arab stone – throwers…lets see how she holds out when her life is on the line,
    Death by Stoning.

Phillip-Nothing like a truely free press in a truely free nation.
‘Round them up’…sounds like plagerism from an Eichmann statement.

  • For the sake of accuracy, the first paragraph of this article incorrectly reads, “The mother of a little girl fighting for her life in an Israeli hospital has responded to an editorial in the Israeli paper Ha’aretz that encouraged the continued stone-throwing by Palestinian Arabs as a form of resistance.”

The piece by Amira Hass was not an editorial, but an opinion column by one person whose sympathies are well known, and in pursuing them to the ultimate, she again has undermined what credibility she might have had.

  • This is about the Islamic hatred of jews and the inbred violent nature of Palestinian muslims. For too long islam has forced its irrational, barbaric will on other people and its time Israel was left alone and allowed to live in peace. God bless little Adele and give her safely back to her mother.

  • Bella from Melbourne

Hass means hate – one so aptly named!. By inciting hatred, hass fuels and prolongs the war, making peace more difficult. As such Hass is personally responsible for suffering of Arabs and Jews alike.

She would be well to recall Churchill’s statement regarding feeding the crocodile and hoping that it will eat her last….. for eat her it will.

My heart goes out to Adele and her loved ones.

    • Stuart Hersh

Amira Haas has crossed the line from criticism of Israeli policy, to agitation, and incitement to murder of Jews. There is clearly no distinction, outside of semantics, between Hass, Josef Gobbels and Julius Streicher.
She is no more a journalist than the her former colleagues mentioned previously. She would be better off joining the Herr Abass’PA Propaganda Ministry, or have the courage to renounce her Israeli citizenship.

    • while one should not condone the hurting of children and old citizens for whatsoever cause, the number of mutilated and decapitated muslim palestinians far supercedes that of jewish casualty. while i pray for adele’s speedy recovery, i also pray that all these nonsensical violence from both sides, especially on the israel’s side, to stop. violence doesn’t solve problems, they only make it worse.

  • Hass, the malevolent traitor, who continues to incite violence against Jews, should be arrested and jailed for life. Haaretz, the German-owned, anti-Israel rag, should be closed down.

  • I love that Biton is a strong mother to step an speak out for her child. She is right to speak so to the journalist, Amira. Sometimes, even in America I wonder if journalists have lost their souls or sold them perhaps? It was very hard to believe when I read that Amira is also Jewish. This makes is so much harder to understand, unless as I said the soul is gone…somewhere.
I stand to tell you all that there is a God who loves you and wishes only peace for all. Someday there will be peace, but only after The LORD comes and then every knee will bow and every tongue confess-whether they want to or not-The whole of the world will come before God the Creator of all of this world. Then there will be judgement for all. He will tell you that He wishes that you had listened to people like me and others who only wanted to share His love and salvation, a chance to join God’s family-Be His Child! how wonderful a gift He offered to the world, but the most all of the world turned their back. You don’t have to anyone who is reading this can reach out to me and I will tell you how to come into God’s family. In the meantime, I pray for Adele and for her recovery for it would bring Him Glory.

  • We should also stone to death the people who call and justify for stoning. Not including me, of course, as I was being sarcastic in my last post. I believe the world should be boycotting the Palestinians, but in a non-violent way. Stopping the Arab war against Israel is the only way to make peace in the region. Forcing Israel to show more self-restraint in its self defense will NEVER bring peace, nor a Palestinian state. Ridiculous. Boycotting Israel is just anti-Semitic theater that does NOT contribute in any way to peace.

  • Yes, stone throwing is good resistance. Israelis should throw stones at Arab ambulances and families to protest terrorism, the Arab war against Israel, Muslim misogyny, homophobia, and slavery, and reactionary Arab politics in general (almost all Muslim leaders are far, far, far to the right of Bush & Cheney).

  • Shame Amira to send such a message of hate. Stone kills and asking to people to use stone to injure or kill is called being accomplice of crime.
I hope to soon hear good news from Adele. In midtime nobody is gaining from her suffering only maybe Amira that got paid to do her durty job.

  • If it were possible, and if my daughter was hurt by stone-throwing Arab terrorists, I would sue Amira Hass and Haaretz for complicity in the violence that they helped instigate!

  • our worst enemy are the Jewish Leftists

  • This poor mother has no idea how vicious of a snake is the “Witch of Ramallah” (as Amira Hass is called by many in Israel)…

  • Moshe, Melbourne

Targetting innocent civilians, whether by rockets or by stones,is a crime, Amira Hass, not a birthright. Inciting to throw stones is also a crime, for which the P.A. which has indocrinated generations of young Palestinian Arabs to make war, rather than peace, with Israel, should rightly be condemned. Were Israel not present in Judea and Samaria today, Amira Hass, it would be subjected to far more from Palestinian Arabs than rocks. Encouraging Israel’s enemies to attack Israelis is below contempt. For an Israeli correspondent to condone such behaviour, and for such sentiments to find expression in an Israeli newspaper, is sickening, and beggars belief.

  • Sonia Willats

The laws of delinct surely would designate stone-throwing as foreseeably maiming, injuring, killing?

I want nothing more to do with Ha’Aretz.

I pray for your Adelle, Adva.

  • Jeffrey M. Goldman

Hopefully rocks thrown by Arabs will accidentally collide with the very thick heads of the Ha’aretz agitators (I mean “journalists .”)

  • Adva Biton is an amazing woman. Amira Hass should be humbled by her.

  • Shalom-Hillel

I really would like to know how a Jew, a Jewish woman, becomes an Amira Hass.

    • agreed. Y”S. yes, for a Jew? Yes, L’daavoni ha rav. Amira Haas, frankly, know nothing about her, except that she has no Jewish DNA.

      • I do not know whether or not Haas can fairly claim to be Jewish or not. Regardless, she, like Gilad Atzon, Shlomo Sand, et al, surely suffer from significant mental health issues in order to hold such views. Unfortunately, unlike most hate-filled fruitcakes who are generally shunned, these demented creatures are given platforms to broadcast their crazy opinions.

    • These leftists are the very worst of narcissists and would have been the kapos in the camps and Jewish Police in Warsaw. They have always been part of the Jewish people who tolerate them.

  • richard sherman

What is clear is that reporters who work for Har’retz have orgasms when they see dead jews. There is no other explanation.

  • Yoel Nitzarim

Hatred breeds hatred. Violence breed violence. A dialogue between hatred and violence only amplifies both elements. Where is the love and empathy with which people are so capable of engaging in? Amira Hass, there is no sanction for bigotry! There is no sanction for violence! There is no sanction for hatred. Freedom–true unadulterated freedom–is first found in the human soul. Freedom is only lost when one has lost touch with his or her soul! Three-year-old Adele Biton lies in critical condition in intensive care because some fool lost touch with his soul! His humanity was compromised. Amira Hass, you have no right to sanction such behavior that violates the inherent birthright that every human being possesses to live his or her life in dignity! Little, innocent Adele has been robbed of her birthright!

Fifty years ago-before the Arabs got into the business- it was the Haredi who were the rock hurlers. The Haredi were never prosecuted…maybe it was their right?
It was the Haredi who taught the region that stone throwing was an acceptable protest…it must have been acceptable for even the “peaceful” “religious”: Jews threw rocks and nobody really seemed to mind.
It seems Jews can do this for generations…but just let a non-Jew throw a stone..then there is talk of vengence and violence.
I would believe that the people who speak this way were being honest the day they commit that violence on Haredi throwers – or are they just racist

    • Shalom-Hillel

Not a single person on this board will sanction stone-throwing of any kind; I’m certain of that. The deeper question, with the violence that has taken place against a little girl, is why you begin a polemic against Haredim and then throw in the gratuitous word racism. Your point is that religious Jews have taught Arabs to kill with stones. How many Haredim do you think have killed anyone with a stone? Your argument is hollow.

      • jerry hersch

In the case of the open windowed vehicle I was in -judging from the deep dent about two inches below the window a forceful throw of a good sized rock-the Haredi just missed badly injuring or worse. We could have swerved as did her car.
As I said Shalom-Hillel crap exists on the Jewish side as well and the law should apply equally..the Haredi have been getting by unmolested for many decades..so your “outrage” is just racist crap…unless of course you have condemned with equal vigor and hatred the Haredi rock throwers.

      • well, what else have they got to use? while israel’s oppressive troops are armed to their teeth, these arabs have only stones.

    • Jerry Hersch and Amira Hass – Great Shidduch.

      • jerry hersch

Thank you Mo..but alas I am already taken..and probably a bit old to be changing horses at the end of the stream..
I told my wife about your suggestion-she said If I found her told old (she’ll be 97 April 18th)-I could give it a try.
Tell me Mo are you a licensed professional shadchan or an amateur..You know officially there is no prohibition against multiple wives..as the European founders of Israel found to their chagrin..they never looked at the reality beyond the “Pale”

    • and you know for a fact that the non-Jews in Palestine were not hostile and violent toward the Jewish minority for centuries? The first documented purchase of land in then Palestine by a European Jews was made in the 1830s for the benefit of Syrian Jews fleeing the Damascus Blood libel, an event that cost the lives of over a hundred Jews. Around the same time, following raids by Druse bandit gangs, Jews fled Safed on mass as the Ottoman Turks provided no protection to them. Neither of these events had anything to do with the “crime” of Zionism/creation of a Jewish state. And these are but a few examples of why it took a mass movement of European Jews in the late 19th century to reestablish a Jewish homeland. Unlike the Muslims and Christians, the Jews had no protectors, unless, of course, the powers that be had use for them.

Israeli Soccer Team Faces Prospect of International Ban

The Israel National soccer team could be facing a World Cup ban, and other soccer sanctions, unless it alleviates travel restrictions and increases field access for Palestinian players and coaches. The head of the Palestinian Football Association is pushing for international soccer’s governing body, the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA), to issue a ban on Israel competing internationally, claiming Israel’s restrictive travel for Palestinians is equivalent to a form of oppression. “It’s not only the athletes,” Jibril Rajoub explains. JNS.org – While the national debate on “Obamacare” rages on past the recent March 31 sign-up deadline, bestselling Jewish author Dr. Joel Fuhrman says the “current disease care model of what we call ‘health care’ cannot possibly be sustained.” “There is simply not enough money available to support a system in which the lion’s share of expenditures is devoted to acute care, with virtually nothing being spent on preventive medicine, i.e. health care,” Fuhrman says in an interview. “To make [...]

The collection represents the first-ever art exhibit of its kind: an exhibit created entirely by Israelis in treatment for eating disorders. Dubbed “Tears of Color,” based on one of the [...]

JNS.org – Rachel Ament noticed that she and her friends often shared humorous anecdotes that were typically variations on a theme: overprotective, worrying Jewish moms who smothered them with love. That included Ament’s own mother. “My mom is probably every Jewish stereotype scrunched into one,” the Washington, DC, resident tells JNS.org. “At the root of all these stereotypical, worrying, overprotective moms, is love.” A social media writer for Capital One, as well as a freelance writer, Ament decided about three years [...]

‎Kosher Lust: Love is Not the Answer (REVIEW)

Kosher Lust, by Shmuley Boteach (Gefen Publishing House, 2014). You really do want to find something positive to say about Shmuley Boteach. He is a phenomenon; very bright, an articulate bundle of energy and self-promotion. Anyone who has the chutzpah to describe himself as “America’s Rabbi” deserves ten out of ten for effort. I believe that along with most Chabad alumni, official and unofficial, he does a lot of good and is a sort of national treasure. In this world [...]
