Israel’s Minister of Strategic and Intelligence Affairs and International Relations Dr. Yuval Steinitz met with Canadian Foreign Minister John Baird Tuesday morning. The meeting focused on the Iranian nuclear issue in light of the unsatisfactory results of the recent round of talks in Kazakhstan.
Minister Steinitz thanked Canadian Foreign Minister Baird for Canada’s assertive and uncompromising position regarding the need to take all necessary steps to block Iran’s uranium enrichment, and for the extensive cooperation between Israel and Canada, according to an Israeli government communique.
Baird is wrapping up a trip to the region which included a four-day stopover in the Palestinian territories and Israel. Over the weekend he met with Palestinian Authority leaders, concluding his meetings by saying that the two sides “have some profound differences of opinion on the way forward, but not on the need to go forward.”
