Michael Steinhardt
Philanthropist
A co-founder of Taglight-Birthright Israel, Steinhardt has actively involved himself in Jewish causes for decades. With over $125 million in donations thus far, he has placed an emphasis on perpetuating American Jewish culture through such institutions as the The Steinhardt Foundation for Jewish Life. In January 2013 he put an estimated $11 million Jewish art collection on sale at Sotheby’s because, in his words, “it is time for the collection to be passed on to a new generation, in the hopes that it will encourage them in turn to discover a rich Jewish heritage and the joy of owning a piece of the past.”
