“Criminal charges should be filed, and Charles Enderlin should never be allowed to practice journalism in Israel again,” Nitsana Darshan-Leitner, director of Shurat HaDin (Israel Law Center), said Monday following the release of a report by the Israeli government which concluded that a report by the France 2 network that IDF troops killed Mohammed al-Dura in 2000 was baseless.

“Enderlin’s report became a symbol of the second Intifada and a modern-day blood libel directly resulting in hundreds of Jewish and Arab deaths, only for the purpose of raising France 2′s ratings,” Darshan-Leitner continued, adding: “The French network ignited a still-burning torch of hatred against Israel, with images of al-Dura still being presented in anti-Israel protests in Iran, the Arab world and in Western Europe. Those who are responsible must bear the consequences of their actions in order to avoid the repetition of incidents like this and, moreover, to stop this blood libel once and for all.”

Shurat HaDin – Israel Law Center is an Israel-based organization dedicated to enforcing basic human rights through the legal system and represents victims of terrorism in courtrooms around the world. Its clients include American, European, and Israeli citizens. It claims to be unaffiliated with any political party or governmental body.

  • I agree that criminal charges should be filed against Charles Enderlin and the France 2 Network. They should be forced into court to answer the charges of spreading hate and falsehoods against the State of Israel.

In fact, I would advocate the the Israeli government start to take to court organizations that spread falsehoods and bigoted view about the Jews and the Israeli state.

It seems that the only action that people understand is when they face criminal and civil charges that can end up costing them large sums of money. Only then, do people start to exercise better judgement.

  • Conclusion: A blood libel, which was initiated by French state television, caused suffering to Jews in many places throughout the world. The suffering spread also to the French city of Toulouse, and was the cause of increased antisemitism among (gentile) French citizens of North African origin. Many Jews felt forced to emigrate as a result of increased antisemitism. I believe that the French government should pay reparations to the the Jewish community of Toulouse, the post 2000 French immigrant community and others who suffered as a result of the French Public TV blood Libel.

How Jewish Television Pioneer Milton Berle Inspired Modern Comedy Stars

JNS.org – Today’s comedy superstars, especially those whose careers are driven by television, may very well owe their success to pioneering Jewish entertainer Milton Berle. Born Mendel Berlinger in Manhattan in 1908, Berle became America’s first small-screen star. Aptly nicknamed “Mr. Television,” he influenced and helped promote the work of hundreds of younger comics. “Milton Berle was deceptively successful and very Jewish,” says Lawrence Epstein, author of The Haunted Smile: The Story of Jewish Comedians in America, published the year [...]
