Officials and public figures in Egypt are beginning to call for Israel and Egypt to wipe out Hamas in the Gaza Strip, which some are calling the “armed branch of the Muslim Brotherhood terrorist organization,” that runs the coastal enclave.

A major Egyptian television news commentator savaged Hamas on Sunday for its support of the Muslim Brotherhood, and called on her country to join Israel and strike the Islamist group.

“The Egyptian people know exactly who they are facing, and understand that there is no alternative to employing the Egyptian army to strike terror cells in Gaza and destroy Hamas in a military operation,” Hayah Al Dardiri, a presenter for Egypt Today told viewers.

Another pundit, Azza Sami, of the newspaper Al-Ahram wrote, “Thank you (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu and may God give us more [people] like you to destroy Hamas.”

And the critique of Hamas wasn’t only in the media.

Writing in The Gatestone Institute, Israeli journalist and author Khaled Abu Toameh noted that, “Sisi’s Egypt has not forgiven Hamas for its alliance with (the) Muslim Brotherhood and its involvement in terrorist attacks against Egyptian civilians and soldiers over the past year.”

“The Egyptians today understand that Hamas and other radical Islamist groups pose a serious threat to their national security. That is why the Egyptian authorities have, over the past year, been taking tough security measures not only against Hamas, but also the entire population of the Gaza Strip.”

Toameh believes that Hamas was taken aback by the vehemence of some of the positive reactions to Israel’s Operation Protective Edge, which entered its sixth day on Sunday, with a possible ground incursion to foil more rockets attacks into Israel in the offing.

“It’s disgraceful to see that some Egyptians are publicly supporting the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip while Westerners are expressing solidarity with the Palestinians and condemning Israel,” one Hamas spokesman said in evident frustration.

Toameh contends that many Egyptians, particularly after the debacle of the rise and fall of the Muslim Brotherhood, view Hamas and like-minded groups as a direct threat to their country’s national security.

Meanwhile, Middle East negotiator and former UK prime minister Tony Blair has met with Egyptian officials in recent days in an effort to stem the fighting between Israel and Hamas through an Egyptian-brokered cease fire.

    • Dayeer

She will test death and her words will be questioned which happens to be against all the teaching of Islam for siding with the evil {Israel}. She and Sisi the Egyptian Dictator will pay for starving the Gaza residents. The truth will prevail.

It is true, Europe (and, of course, Obama) are all on Hamas’ side. Nazis have ALWAYS been on the side of radical Islam. Monsters such as Hamas, Islamic Jihad, ISIS, Hezbollah, Iran, the Muslim Brotherhood, and so forth kill and torture Muslims that no other people on earth would consider doing. It is time to distinguish between Muslims who are people and Muslims who are neanderthals, and Hamas, et al, qualify as the latter. They are the enemies of Islam as much as they are the enemies of Jews. Europe, which has blindly hated Jews for 2000 years, has always had as its top priority to destroy the Jews. Radical Islam is willing to do so, and is doing so. Naturally, Europe cheers them on. Egypt, having suffered under the Muslim Brotherhood, is definitely against their brothers in terror. Thank you Egypt. They, however, do not dare to actually aid Israel. No Muslim country could do that. But support is appreciated.

Please please please, Bibi, this time finish the job.

it would seem that hamas is not yet through paying for its part in the morsi/moslem brotherhood coup in egypt.

the terrorist campaign in sinai is an ongoing humiliation for the egyptian army, and hamas is complicit in it. so the egyptian military, while not asking for israel’s help directly, can cheer on the destruction of the salafists’ safe haven. and i wonder if any of the israeli strikes “just happened” to hit the beachfront hotel where the leaders of the moslem brotherhood have been holed up since morsi was removed from power. it would certainly be a coincidence.

it’s worth noting that these egyptian journalists seem to have dropped all the usual polemics about the “palestinian resistance” (the border between gaza and egypt is almost completely closed, whereas the israeli crossings are mostly still open), and aren’t even decrying the plight of the civilians in gaza. (unlike most of the western mainstream media.)

  • Ed Heider

Just one mistake she made in her perfect speech, one mistake when she said at the end ” what Hamas did against Egypt was for the interest of Israel”

Nobody in this area – nobody does anything for the interest of Israel, the only person who did good to Israel was Mr. Sadat when he used a “unusual” wise brain for the first time in the area!

The old “the enemy of my enemy is my friend…”

  • Robert Sklar

I have many Coptic friends here in Los Angeles. They are all so grateful for Sisi. Morsi’s malignant indifference to the church burnings and kidnappings was an early sign that his intentions were to subject the people of Egypt to the same tyranny as in Iran, albeit a Sunni/ISIS version. Egypt, Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Cyprus, and Turkey are a natural trading block. Time will tell who is in and who is out.

  • Martin Bookspan

Nothing less than the total DESTRUCTION of hamas, the Muslim Brotherhood and hezbolah MUST be the result of the current engagement. Anything less will find the world ablaze in a few years in an “intifada” that will engulf the entire planet……

      Hi Marty,

I agree wholeheartedly. My husband and dog are in a shelter all week. Are you with Renee in the Berkshires? I am in Austin Texas this week at a class. Tell her to call me.

      Best,

      Terri

    • Bravo Egypt, Bravo General Sissi! You now see the truth,
that Hamas and the Islamic Jihad are dangerous terrorist organizations that bring havoc and destruction on their neighbors and on the Middle East.
“Israel’s Operation Protective Edge,” which entered its sixth day on Sunday 13 July 2014, should demand from Hamas its TOTAL DEMILITARIZATION and removal of arms and rockets. Egypt, the US, and the European Coalition should help Israel to demilitarize terrorist Hamas and Jihad in Gaza, so that they will never again be able to endanger their peaceful neighbors, Egypt and Israel.

  • Rosewood11

Amazing!!! At last, someone in the muslim world recognizes that Arab/Palestinian terrorists are not healthy for their freedom, either. I’ve said for a long time that my objection to muslims is not on the basis of race or even peacefully practiced faith. It is BEHAVIOR. If you prove yourself to be unable to operate in a civilized world, then you should not expect to be treated in a civilized manner. Maybe it’s time Egypt and Saudi Arabia need to come in on Israels side, and clean out that nest of vipers in Gaza. That is assuming that those countries would do so on the up-and-up.

    • Lynne T

Primarily, they recognize who funds both Hamas and the other militant organizations. And a 12 month taste of Muslim Brotherhood rule was also something that had 10 million Egyptians out on the streets begging the military to take over again.

  • Sofia B

Egypt understands very well, that they would be next, and already the jhaddists said that they would blow up the Pyramids and all the ancient sites, just like the taliban did in Afghanistan.

These are cruel savages its too bad that Egypt doesn’t want to help Israel in defeating the cancer that is in both of the countries, and look at Europe. France is now sitting on their hands, just like they did when Hitler marched into Paris.
DeGaulle was hiding under the rocks.

  • Beatrix

Hamas is one of those groups Luttwak talks about that go “poof.” If Hamas had endurance, they’d be with Israel, not against her. Egypt has endurance. Jordan didn’t until she allied with Israel. Now she does and she can feel the difference.

  • Abid

for this noble cause,, sessi the butcher was brought in ???

    • Gil

You are wrong. It is your brother Morsi and your friends from Iran who are the butchers. And Sissi is far from Assad’s scores

    • Krystalle

Abid: al Sisi is NOT a butcher. HAMAS butchers… Muslim Brotherhood butchers… IS butchers… a hell of a lot of muslims have butchering in their genes. Long Live EL SISI.

      • Abid

why you like Sessi the butcher, so much ,, please give reasons

    • Sonia Willats

The use of HUMAN SHIELDS IS A WAR CRIME. HAMAS DOES IT ALL THE TIME. IT GIVES PEOPLE ROCKETS AND WAR, BUT NOT PROSPERITY. And people are bought up to hate and make tunnels, instead of to PRODUCE WEALTH. IT IS A TOTALLY NEGATIVE AND HATE-FILLED AGENDA.

IF YOU APPLY LOGIC ONLY YOU CAN SEE WHAT IS GOOD AND TRUE. Would the only G-d who created life WANT TO KILL ALL OF HIS CREATION. RADICAL ISLAM IS ALL HATRED AND DESTRUCTION. Anyone who follows this is following the un=god.
