The mother of Israeli-Arab Israel supporter Muhammad Zoabi expressed pride in being a Zionist as she appeared as a contestant on the latest season of the popular cooking show MasterChef Israel.

Sarah Zoabi introduced herself to viewers as an “Arab, Muslim, Israeli, proud Zionist” from the northern city of Nazareth. When one of the show’s judges asked her to elaborate on her nationality and beliefs, she said, “I believe in the right of the Jewish people to have their own country, which is the state of Israel, the holy land.”

“I’m sure that the people who hear me will say: ‘what, have you lost your mind? How can you say you are a Zionist?’ I want to say to all the Arab [citizens] of Israel to wake up,” she continued. “We live in paradise. Compared to other countries, to Arab countries – we live in paradise.”

The contestant also elaborated on her loyalty to Israel, saying she doesn’t have “another state” or “another flag” with which she identifies. She added, “With all due respect to [the Arab] nation, this doesn’t imply treason. I never harmed anyone.”

US ‘Helping Iran Conquer Kirkuk,’ Kurdish Military Official Tells Israeli News Outlet

A representative of the Kurdish Peshmerga forces told an Israeli media outlet on Tuesday that "all our friends have abandoned us" and blamed the...

Praising the Jewish state, she said there is no other country where she could receive the same freedoms as in Israel. She asserted that 100 percent of Israeli Arabs would prefer living in Israel over Palestinian rule, if given the choice.

“No one will agree. That’s what I believe,” she said. “It will cost me, I know that. Same way it cost my son. I’m the mother of the Arab boy, Muhammad Zoabi, who’s life was threatened and who faced death threats over his opinions.”

Her son, Muhammad, was forced to go into hiding last summer after he publicly expressed support for Israel. At the time, he published a video online calling for the the return of three Israeli teenagers – Naftali Fraenkel, Gilad Shaer and Eyal Yifrah – who were abducted and murdered in June by Hamas terrorists in the West Bank. He found shelter at the home of an Israeli terror victim in Israel before fleeing to the U.S.

Muhammad resurfaced in January with a post on his Facebook page. He said his need to go into hiding was partially a result of his effort to “show the world the real face of regular Arabs and Muslims who’re simply sick of their leaders’ corruption and unlimited hate.”

Muhammad is a cousin of Israeli-Arab parliamentarian Haneen Zoabi, whose provocative anti-Zionist activism nearly cost her her Knesset seat.

If I am not mistaken, the Prophet Mohamed himself prophesied that the Jews would return to their land one day. He implies that they should do so, after wandering around in exile for a long time. So in that sense, it could be said that the Prophet was a Zionist of sorts. Of course, he would prefer that we treated the Arabs better, even inside Israel. It goes without saying that we should do so. An established, stable peace, would redefine relations with them a great deal, although it would involve a change of consciousness that could not happen overnight. Then even those Arabs inside Israel would find themselves treated even better and without suspicion as a possible “fifth column. This lady gives me some hope for the future. And I am not feeling optimistic these days. I hope to see a better situation before I die. My ex- mother-in-law, whose roots were in Baghdad before India and England, where she married a Jew from Jerusalem, and then onto Israel, liked the Arab peoples and liked to hire them for jobs. She was a hardline devotee of Jabotinsky regarding the “territories” but insisted that that we could find an accommodation with the Arabs some day. Meantime, some of their leaders and agitators insist on having “the whole thing” and we “will not and must not give it to them” but “we will drink tea/coffee with them one day, for sure”.She would not tell me how she thought that it could happen. She died recently, sadly, before she could realize her dream.

I visited a mosque in NYC many years ago to hear a talk by the late, great Sheikh Muzaffer Effendi. he was the leader of the Helveti Jerrahi dervishes based in Istanbul, and author of “The Unveiling of Love”. 2 of the 4 khalifas were Jewish, one of them a published author on Sufism. One khalifa was Lex Hixon, who was known for the radio program “In the Spirit” as well as his books. Another was a Turkish American author whose name now escapes me after more than 30 years. Rabbi Zalman Shachter appeared there on at least one occaission. The Sheikh said that anybody who was “a real Muslim in his heart” would accept the existence of Israel. There seemed to no negative response. As a Jew who is very pro-Israel but religiously very open, I was pleasantly surprised by that statement, given without any diffidence or mental reservation whatsoever. I was worried that somebody might harm him for that. I was very encouraged by that

Something does not fit. Most Israeli Arabs — and most East Jerusalem Arabs — prefer to be governed by Israel. However, they keep being represented by Arab MKs who sound like traitors to the State of Israel that gives them better human rights than neighbouring Arab states. 20% of Israeli citizens are Arabs, yet the PA demands a judenrein state, with all Jews ethnically cleansed from the heartland of Biblical Israel.

I was amazed by this wonderful, humerous arab woman
    called Zarah Zoabi on masterchef..
I would love to meet her and hug her,
to make her feel loved by us israelis..( not leftist)
if only there were many, many more of the muslims
who dared to tell the truth as she and her brave son did..

anyone knows how to get in contact with her…

It is hope for humanity after all

  • Too bad that not more Israeli Arabs/Muslims come out of the closet and openly tell the truth to the world like she and her son did.

  • Kevin Engle

Blessings to a very brave “Arab, Muslim, Israeli, [and] proud Zionist.”

About time she had a serious chat with her appalling treasonous daughter.

    • Brian Sacks

If you mean Haneen, it is not a daughter but something like a first cousin once removed

    • Jacob

It is not her daughter but her husband’s niece. Yes, they have publicly scolded her for her blatant Anti-Israeli actions and speech.

  • Can’t we make an exchange? Sara for Haneen?

  • Ellen

Beautiful lady. She dresses like an Orthodox Jew. ( which is okay too) My Hebrew is not fluent but from what I understand the judges seemed to be more lefty then she was. AND one seemed to be very upset with her for her calling Israel a Garden Of Eden. We need more of her kinfolk to speak out. She is so right when she says no Arab State has what Israel has!

  • NuritG

If every Israeli-Arab will be speaking her language, Israel will have one less problem to worry about

  • Anthony Dayton

Sarah Zoabi is a courageous, human being. I’d like to thank her for showing how all of us should think and act; hers is the way to peace.

  • Franklin melkees fernandes

the daughter should listen to her mum speaking the truth.

    • Jacob

Again, the Arabist in the Knesset is not her daughter but a niece of her husbamd’s from what Muhammed Zoabi has stated.

A few good women and men among the Israeli Muslim. When will the millennial Palestinians and the youth overturn their genocidal, fanatical and corrupted leaders?

  • Laurie Kurs

I have met arab Israelis who have expressed the same point of view…which includes not being able to feel safe or secure in admitting that Israel gives them freedoms no arab country would. What a shame fear keeps the truth from being told. She is very brave!! I hope this article is made available world wide!! But, Israel need t=o offer her safety!!

  • Mireille Mechoullam

She is a honest person and she is right. No Israeli Arab will be willing to move under the Palestinian control. Then know that have it good but they are afraid to admit it.
