Three missiles apparently fired by Hezbollah hit open spaces in Israel’s Western Galilee on Sunday evening, Israel’s Channel 2 reported.
Prior to the barrage, which struck open space in Nahariya, air raid sirens sent residents of the area running for bomb shelters, and no casualties were reported.
The attack, according to Israeli analysts, is likely in retaliation for the assassination of arch-terrorist Samir Kuntar Saturday night in Damascus. The targeted killing has been attributed to Israel, though no government or IDF official has confirmed the report.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made no reference to the Kuntar assassination in his weekly Sunday-morning cabinet meeting. But military reporters are saying that the Defense Ministry is on alert in the wake of the incident.
