On a lovely Sunday evening in August, almost 300 friends and supporters gathered on the sprawling grounds of the home of Dr. Robert and Mrs. Arlenne Brenner for the Second Annual Chabad of the Hamptons Summer Celebration, a major event of the 2012 season.
Guests enjoyed two hours of good fellowship and gourmet treats – kosher, of course. A range of dishes, representing many cuisines, was offered at stations placed on the lawn of the gracious venue. The evening included a glorious sunset and fine music in the manicured garden of the East Hampton home. In addition, throughout the event, guests had an opportunity to bid on a variety of items in a the silent auction.
Highlighting the evening was a performance of Ravel by alumni of the Perlman Music Program. Famed violinist Itzhak Perlman teaches Master Classes in the program founded by his wife, Toby. She, too, is a classically trained violinist. The Perlmans have been married for close to forty five years.
Chabad of East Hampton celebrated eight years as a resource for Jewish life in the Hamptons. The organization provides “an open door environment for strengthening and enhancing Jewish family life,” and “offers a personalized Jewish experience (and) ‘ahavat Yisrael‘ – unconditional love.”

Rabbi Baumgarten spoke of his gratitude for both heavenly direction and earthly support of Chabad's success in the Hamptons. Photo: Maxine Dovere.
