High-profile British Jewish actor and comedian Sacha Baron Cohen, who has starred as Ali G, Borat and Bruno, will play the role of Queen singer Freddie Mercury in a new film about the popular band. According to Queen guitarist Brian May, Baron Cohen, who has also featured as an Israeli tour guide in The Simpsons, had been keen on the role for a while. Graham King, the producer, said: “Freddie Mercury was an awe-inspiring performer so with Sacha in the starring role, coupled with […] the support of Queen, we have the perfect combination to tell the real story behind their success.”
