It’s been a back and forth between Saudi and Israeli hackers recently, with both sides acquiring and leaking the credit card information of citizen’s from the others’ country.  Now, another online threat is emerging, and it’s coming from an unexpected source – terrorist groups.

According to a new study by Dr. Gabriel Weinmann of Haifa University, groups like Hezbollah, al-Shabab, and Al-Qaeda are using social network sites like Facebook to disseminate their information.

“If you are doing research and type ‘Lebanon’ or ‘Gaza’ in to YouTube, it’s likely that you are watching a video that without being identified as such, was posted by Hizbollah or Hamas,” Dr. Weinmann told The Jewish Chronicle.

Once someone accepts a friend request linked to these groups, it becomes much easier for them to send out their propaganda, according to Weinmann.
