Days before a planned terrorist attack set to originate from the Sinai, two terrorists were killed in a joint operation undertaken by the Israel Defense Forces and the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet).

One of the two terrorists killed was Zuhir Mussah Ahmed Kaisi, a leader of the Popular Resistance Committee.  The PRC is designated by both the United States and Israel as a terrorist organization, responsible for dozens of deaths through bomb and gun attacks.

“The IDF does not seek an escalation in the region. However, the IDF is prepared to defend the residents of Israel and will respond with strength and determination against any attempt to execute terrorist attacks,” the IDF said in a statement.

According to the IDF, Kaisi was responsible for transferring funds from Hezbollah into the Gaza Strip, to support terrorist groups there.
