European Union Foreign Affairs Chief Catherine Ashton spoke to Palestinian children on Monday, comparing the  shooting at a Jewish School in France, in which four were murdered today, and the 2011 massacre in Norway in which 77 were killed with the struggle of Palestinian children.

“Against all the odds, they continue to learn, to work, to dream and aspire to a better future. And the days when we remember young people who have been killed in all sorts of terrible circumstances – the Belgian children having lost their lives in a terrible tragedy and when we think of what happened in Toulouse today, when we remember what happened in Norway a year ago, when we know what is happening in Syria, when we see what is happening in Gaza and in different parts of the world – we remember young people and children who lose their lives,” she said.

Following her statement that the EU will do everything in it’s power “to try and meet circumstances for the completion of the Middle East Peace Process,” Ashton praised the young people in attendance for taking a leadership role.

“Here are young people who are asking not to be leaders of the future, but to be taken seriously as leaders of today. And it is to them that we should look and to them we should listen and it is to them that I pay tribute,” she said.

She sees no distinction between the different cases. These different tragedies are all part of some generalized situation that she thinks she has a role in fixing. She is not a bright woman, but she holds an important position. Many people assume that someone who rises to an influential position has to be bright and thoughtful. Not so. I have the same reaction every time I hear Madelein Albright speak. I just think to myself, I can’t believe she was our Secretary of State.

  • the same smug ignorance goes on the US where the movement to boycott Israeli products is having a blast. we have it in Park Slope – right next door to Crown Heights and yet there does not seem to be a campaign to educate people. so-called ‘leaders’ can get away with all kinds of ignorant statements as long as the pubic is duped into thinking they are informed about the Middle East because they read the NYTimes – when i fact they have no clue what is going on.

Catherine Ashton, you are a despicable piece of shit! Go to hell.

Such a dumb woman!!! I cannot believe it…..
What was she thinking when she said that? Was she thinking at all?? I think not!
The EU is indeed a joke!!!

The disgrace is that this woman will continue to hold an important position in the European Union.

European Union Foreign Affairs Chief Catherine Ashton has some accurate info. Let us inspire her to see the light better, however. That light is that The Holy Land Israel is given to The Jewish People. It is God’s Promise To The Generations. International law and history is also on our side. But our Deed is The Holy
Torah, which alone is more than sufficient. In the future, the world shall us as we really are. Let us start to inspire the world better and better.

Why not to call the EU foreign minister as what she is: an Anti-Semitic ugly woman? I don’t know of any more ethical army, which risks its soldiers life to prevent casualties of civilian population. Ms. ashton should be critical of the education system n aghast, which teaches the young children to hate and kill the Jews.

Catherine Ashton’s remarks, if typical of the attitudes of European leadership (and I think they are), show that Europe has gone nowhere in more than 70 years.

She is as deluded as those who commit these crimes. Whom did Europe use as an excuse when the original Nazis were murdering, not only Jews, but no small number of Frenchmen either?

Whom were those victims of the Nazis “picking on” or treating so badly that they needed to be avenged. In those days, the Palestinians were the Jews, the only real Palestinians there have ever been.

  • This woman does not get it…and never will. To equate the victims of this morning’s tragedy in France and those who lost their lives so senselessly in Norway with those who are killed in the midst of guerilla warfare, largely of their own and their parents’ making, is shameful. If this is the best person the European Union can choose as its lead person in Foreign Affairs, they are indeed in a sad state.

    • Howard Stein

Are you kidding? Have you seen some of Europe’s other candidates? It’s a poor lot. That’s why they’re going the way they are.

I just don’t want us to get there first.
