On a day that was picture perfect for a barbeque, Mayor Michael Bloomberg invited a few hundred of his friends representing the grand diversity of New York’s Jewish community, to picnic in the backyard – of Gracie Mansion.
The Mayor offered a warm welcome as he recounted the long history of the community and its contributions to New York and America. He stressed the need for continued vigilance to protect the safety and security of Israel, noting that the memory of both of his parents is actively honored in Israel. A major Mogan David Adom facility named in honor of his father was recently dedicated; a hospital wing carries his mother’s name.
