Twitter released its 2012 “White Hat Hackers” list, which honors the users who contributed to enhancing the social media platform’s “security protocols”, and 4 of the 17 names are Israeli.

The company releases the list annually, to promote the “independent researchers that volunteer their time and help us recognize problem area and improve security,” according to Twitter.

The 4 Israelis, all of whom work for information security firms, helped discover a hole in Twitter’s system and mobile application that would have allowed for user’s accounts to be hacked into and taken over.  All 4 were involved in fixing the security lapse.
