After reports began to circulate earlier this month that billionaire Sheldon Adelson was getting ready to throw his financial weight behind Mitt Romney’s bid for president, the Wall Street Journal and ABC News have confirmed the casino magnate has donated $10 Million to Romney’s super PAC “Restore Our Future”.

The independent political action committee supporting Romney is not allowed, by law, to coordinate its plans with Romney’s campaign, however it can spend an unlimited amount of money in support of the candidate.

Adelson, the chief executive of Las Vegas Sands Corp., and his wife, gave over $20 million to the super PAC which supported Newt Gingrich’s campaign for president, but after Gingrich dropped out of the race, Republican leaders hoped Adelson would provide similar support for Romney.

As the Algemeiner reported earlier this year, Adelson’s opposition to President Obama’s policies on Israel would likely lead to his eventual support of the republican candidate for president, regardless of who won the nomination.
