Syrian Pilot Reportedly Defects, Flys into Jordan

CBS News – Syria’s state-run TV said Thursday that authorities had lost contact with a military plane that was on a training mission in the country, as officials in neighboring Jordan reportedly said the plane had landed in that country, suggesting a defection.

According to Syrian TV, the military lost contact with the MiG-21 warplane near the nation’s southern border with Jordan late in the morning. The report said the plane was piloted by a Col. Hasan Merhi al-Hamadeh.
