Times of Israel – Lee Korzits, Israel’s last realistic hope for a medal at the 2012 Olympics, was in 10th and last place place half-way through the crucial “medal race” of her RS:X windsurfing event on Tuesday afternoon. Ukraine’s Olga Maslivets was leading, with Spain’s Marina Alabau in second. Such a finish would leave Korzits in seventh place overall, far outside the medal placings.
First or second place would guarantee Korzits a medal — its color determined by the placings of her rivals. For her to win gold, she would need to finish seven places higher than Alabau, and one ahead of Finnish competitor Tuuli Petaja.
