An author and former editor at the British publication the New Statesman took the bold step of admonishing the Muslim community in his home country for its “Judaeophobia.”

Writing in the New Statesman, Mehdi Hasan addressed a recent controversy surrounding Lord Ahmed, a British Labor party peer and one of the most powerful Muslims in England,  saying, “To claim that your jail sentence for dangerous driving is the result of a Jewish plot is bigoted and stupid”

Lord Ahmed was sentenced to jail after hitting and killing a man with his car only moments after having sent text messages while driving. In a later interview he blamed a Jewish conspiracy on his having to serve jail time for the crime.

Hasan pointed out that he has defended Lord Ahmed before and that “He is not a latter-day Goebbels. But herein lies the problem. There are thousands of Lord Ahmeds out there: mild-mannered and well-integrated British Muslims who nevertheless harbour deeply anti-Semitic views.”

“It pains me to have to admit this but anti-Semitism isn’t just tolerated in some sections of the British Muslim community; it’s routine and commonplace,” Hasan wrote.

He continued: “The truth is that the virus of anti-Semitism has infected members of the British Muslim community, both young and old. No, the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict hasn’t helped matters. But this goes beyond the Middle East.”

Hassan said that complaints from the Muslim community that they were being vilified and discriminated against were “sheer hypocrisy”  when taking into account the community’s  “rampant anti-Semitism,” adding that “We cannot credibly fight Islamophobia while making excuses for Judaeophobia.”

Hassan wrote that not all Muslims were anti-Semites,  but that as a community there is a “Jewish problem,” concluding that “The time has come for us to own up to a rather shameful fact: Muslims are not only the victims of racial and religious prejudice but purveyors of it, too.”

Community Security Trust (CST), a charity tasked with protecting the British Jewish community, released a report earlier this year that showed anti-Semitism was on the rise in England.

    What are you saying?

I do not know what a “jew” is, but every Muslim is told to be wary of the yehud.

[5:82] And strongest in enmity to the Believers thou shalt find the infidel and the yehud, and nearest in love to the Believers are those who say “we are Nazarenes (i.e. Christians)” …..

Muslims do not hate the “jews” or the yehud as Islam teaches us to hate no one. But if Allah says that the yehud hate us, it must be right no matter what they tell us.

I am a former German Jew now in the USA.
    Antisemitism is simply stupidity.
The hatred of easily recognizable minorities is very common.
It is very difficult to get rid of stupidity.

  • Mr. Richard Shermann should just reffer all interested parties to the writing of Mrs Armstron the life of mohammad

Anti-Semitism is not new in England. It existed for generations; but now is exacerbated by the intrusion of Muslim hate. Unless the government replies with actions to curb attacks on Jewish residents, the Muslims and others will get more violent.

Mehdi Hasan is in no way a friend to the Jewish people or to Israel. As editor of the New Statesmen he is simply more media astute then Lord Ahmed and realizes that blatant, unmasked antisemitism of this kind is clumsy and will expose the Jew-hating position that is widely held by European Muslims and the radical-left. He’s just running damage limitation. Don’t thank him, better to thank Lord Ahmed for exposing the real position here in Europe

    Anti-semitism ?
So as Arabic and Hebrew are Semitic langugages.
Moslems and Jewish are from the root of tribes of Israelites of Abraham grad-son Jacob. What unnecessary mess is in this article. Guess the fear is for what is neccessary everywhere: giving up of privileges and start trusting and ask for forgiveness. Guess those sharlatan scientific termins anti-semitism and phobias are only in the interest of preserving privileges that no one – not whole nature, not global economy system not local survial can not afford anymore. So maybe it is good idea to accept things and start think how to re-launch economy with giving up concepts instead of violence whether it is under protectional execuse whether to make self the victim or another one the enemy.

So what in the world is so newsworthy as British Muslims being antisemitic. Muslims the world over are antisemitic! That’s the world’s problem …a huge Muslim population worldwide that are supremacist in their views, utterly intolerant of anything even vaguely perceived as anti-Muslim. Muslims have just never developed mature tolerant societies…ever anywhere…and they never will. Shariah demands that everyone else, including women, is second class. Some Muslim women, especially in Iran, are rebelling against this. Iranians more and more understand that they are enslaved by Arab imperialists through Islam. Arabs and their imperialistic religion are the great problem in the world, but the Israelis are going to humble them.

Anti-semitism inflicts most of Europe and around the world as well not just in the Muslim community. Nonetheless, it’s really brave of Mehdi Hasan to come out and speak about it. I just hope no harm comes to the author for his views.

  • Completed comment: The reverence Muslims have for such a genocidal character who spent a large part of his adult life in Medina humiliating and killing Jews (notwithstanding the fact that JEWS never attacked him) is the reason that the blood lust of antisemitism is foundational to Islam.

  • To: Richard Sherman: Please finish your comment. Thank you very much.

You sir are extremely courageous and an example of what will be needed to advance beyond the hatred that has been inculcated in Muslim populations for far too long. May I congratulate you and thank you for standing up and stepping forward and voicing a view that ALL need to hear. I for one am elated you are there as a voice that speaks to what is exactly needed at this time.

thank you Mr Hasan. I hope you can come out of hiding before you are too old.

Muslims revere a sociopathic antisemite named Muhammad who personally decapitated 900 unarmed Jews at Quarayza. The reverence Muslims have for such a genocidal character who spent a large part of his life in Medina humiliating
