Ynet – Listening in? The UK’s Sunday Times newspaper exposed what it claims are new details on what Syria states are “Israeli espionage measures” planted on Ant Island – a tiny island opposite Syria’s Tartus Port.

According to the report on Sunday, divers from ‘Shayetet 13’, Israel’s elite naval commando unit installed the equipment. They approached the island from one of the country’s German-built Dolphin class submarines, which are armed with nuclear cruise missiles.

    Russian entry into Lebanese waters to protect its nationals in case of danger would not be an unusual action for a nation to take.
    There are thousands of Americans resident in Lebanon-many with dual citizenship,some for business,some for scholarly work -some just to retire among family and familiarity.France has upwards of 25,000 citizens there.

    By land stations and satellite both the Russians in Tartus and the Iranians in Latakia are being monitored.
    Closer in is need to pick up internal communications that would signal a ships imminent movements-in this case Russian movement south toward or into Lebanese waters…or north closer to Iskenderun,Turkey.
    Any such movement would signal the final deployment of Assad along the coast..he will need the feint.
