Israel’s representative at the Eurovision Song Contest, Moran Mazor, is in discussions with none other than John Galliano to design her outfit for the performance, according to Israel’s Maariv daily.
The fashion designer was embroiled in a controversy in 2011 after he was caught on tape making anti-Semitic remarks in a Paris cafe. The incident led to his dismissal as head of the Christian Dior fashion house and he was also fined by a Parisian court.
Galliano was in the news again in February when he was spotted during New York fashion week wearing what some claimed was a thinly-veiled mockery of Hasidic garb. This incident, however, caused some in the Jewish community to come to his defense, including the ADL’s Abraham Foxman, who called the accusation an “absurd distortion.”
The Eurovision Song Contest is set to take place in Malmo, Sweden in May.
