Jerusalem Post – WASHINGTON – US Secretary of State John Kerry will head back to the region this week in his latest drive to renew peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians, hoping that his strategy of putting in personal face time with leaders on both sides will finally produce results.

Any meeting between people, whether it be a first date, sales call, or political negotiation is only as good as the intention and sincerity of the participants. If you sit with another person and take a genuine interest in their situation and frame of reference (i.e. How did they get here? How are they surviving now? What are their fears – both rational and irrational; hopes and dreams about and for the future? etc.) then the probability of a positive outcome is increased. Seemingly impossible situations can be redeemed, i.e. counter-balanced, if such an approach is taken. The truth is that G-d does want peace to reign in the world. Jerusalem, the Holy Land and the Middle East should be centres of peace. (Think a series of concentric circles.) The truth is that at the start and end of the day we are all G-d’s children. I have it on good authority that G-d wants the “leaders” of various tribes to sort out their differences right now in a mature and respectful fashion.

I repeat…Which paradigm should reign right now? Vision, courage and trust building or myopia, cowardice and betrayal of trust. Let’s see what unfolds in the coming hours, days and weeks…

P.S. Does the “Tent of Meeting” idea from that Egyptian guy in the desert from many moons ago have any relevance for today?
